Dr. Faraz Ahmad Awarded Jeremiah and Rose Stamler Research Award for New Investigators

CHiP is thrilled to announce Dr. Faraz S. Ahmad, MD has been awarded the Jeremiah and Rose Stamler Research Award for New Investigators by the American Heart Association (AHA). This award recognizes and stimulates excellence in research by investigators in training.

In the study, “Validity of Cardiovascular Data From Electronic Data Research Networks: The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) and HealthLNK”, data for BMI (body mass index) and BP (blood pressure) from electronic clinical data research networks were correlated to population-based CVD (cardiovascular disease) cohorts.  This study concluded that the CDRN (clinical data research networks) data from HealthLNK can be just as accurately as population-based cohort data (MESA) for the benefit of epidemial research.

CHiP and HealthLNK would also like to recognize Dr. Ahmad’s associate authors Drs. Abel Kho and Marc Rosenman on their contribution to this fascinating study.

Congratulations to Dr. Ahmad and associated authors for their continued research in cardiovascular health and improving health outcomes with the use of data!
